GIS Surveyors, Inc., in partnership with ICON Utility Services, hosted the 1st Annual Warrior Built Golf Tournament on September 20, 2019. This tournament was cultivated to support The Warrior Built Foundation, an organization that honors the service and sacrifice of combat veterans, as well as wounded service members, by providing vocational and recreational opportunities. These opportunities help selfless heroes’ transition back into civilian life through healing, both mentally and physically. The foundation provides motivation and camaraderie as they find ways to engage in their imagination through building motorcycle bikes, welding, truck engine rebuilds, soft ball games, music outlets, and performing in races like the Baja 1000 off-road race! The Warrior Built Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and relies solely on the generosity of individuals, small businesses, and corporations for donations and financial support as they carry out their mission.

“It’s about creating relationships between fellow combat veterans… the best thing we can do for you is connect YOU with other combat vets in order to strengthen your support network.” – Nick Hamm, Founder/President of The Warrior Built Foundation.

Tournament Recap:

The event was a huge success! Not only did we have 136 golfers attend, we had 8 vendors out on the course including Monster Energy Drink, Patron Tequila, Purple Heart Originals, Craft Brewery and Inland Wharf Brewery who served their unique custom brew created for Warrior Built. The tournament itself had 47 sponsors who stepped in to support whether it be a financial donation, a raffle donation, a sponsorship package, or company that provided swag items. The tournament featured HBK Engineering as the lunch sponsor, Racing Optics as the dinner sponsor, and Otay Mesa Sales and Par Electric as Four-Star General sponsors along with many other companies who graciously participated with sponsorship.

As Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Enterprises, it is important to GIS Surveyors, Inc and ICON Utility Services to be able to contribute to this cause in a meaningful way, especially to a foundation that sits in their backyard. “Some things are worth fighting for. Our brave Veterans know that, now it’s our turn.” says Paul Loska, CEO and Co-Owner of both companies. We were completely overwhelmed by the support and kindness that was spread throughout the day from everyone that attended. The tournament raised $38,324 which went directly to The Warrior Built Foundation to help them continue to grow and help those who have served for us. We greatly appreciate the generosity from all of our sponsors and donors for our first annual event. We hope to make next year even bigger!
